The season of Advent approaches. It is still a couple of weeks away but is coming soon. 



I think Advent ought to be distinguished from Lent. It has a different character and purpose. It is not simply a season of repentance, like some sort of "Lent before Christmas". It is more a repentance that shows itself in longing and desire for the Christ who will soon come.

For the most part the stats look very positive for mega and gigachurches (yes, that is a term now being used). These massive congregations, unlike many other churches, are still growing. They're expanding staff, seeing increasing budgets and have an optimistic outlook.

This song has been a continuing topic on this blog:  here and here and here .

It is a pretty funny bit on the show. They are mocking the song a little and comparing it to the gospel type, rocking number the house band is playing.
