"Sons of God hear his Holy Word" on the Jimmy Fallon Late Night Show

An astute commentator pointed out that on the Jimmy Fallon show on Wednesday August 31, Jimmy's co-host, Steve Higgins, sang "Sons of God, Hear His Holy Word". This song has been a continuing topic on this blog:  here and here and here .

It is a pretty funny bit on the show. They are mocking the song a little and comparing it to the gospel type, rocking number the house band is playing. The conversation starts around the four minute mark on the video below. Enjoy.

My husband's field work church while he was in seminary had this blessed ditty in regular circulation. Count on the LCMS to keep up with something the Pope realized was lame years ago. The full folk Mass was in the hymnal racks, although we never used it. May the Lord get through to everybody, and especially to you, Pastor Alms.

Please be kind, Rebekah! You're speaking of the hymn that takes me back to my First Holy Communion Day in 1967. Its funny! I regularly attend a Tridentine Mass today and love it, but my training for First Holy Communion took place during those tumultuous "transitional" years during which Latin had already given way to English, but the full implementation of the Novus Ordo (Vatican II) Mass was still a few years away. I might lose street cred as a Traditionalist by admitting this, but there will always be a part of me that loves "Sons Of God" There! I admitted it! LOL
