Cigarettes are bad but sometimes the songs about them are good. A paradox, I know, but listen ...
"Smokin in the Boy's Room" by Brownsville Station ... a hilarious, wonderful song from 1973, not the silly Motley Crue version. "Teacher, don't you fill me up with your rules!"
This is a great rock and roll record by an Australian girl group named the Spazzys. "We'll have something to do to pass the time while we wait for the time to pass"
Merle Travis wrote this one; Tex Williams recorded it.
"Tell St Peter at the Golden Gate that you hate to make him wait
But you just gotta have another cigarette"
Three Cigarettes In An Ashtray by Patsy Cline
Cigarettes And Coffee by Otis Redding
More Cigarettes by the Replacements
Any others?

Smithereens "Cigarette"
Saw them play this in Nashville in 1991. Just about everyone in the bar lit up and sang along. It was hilarious.
Roger Miller in "King of the Road" sang about smoking "old stogies I have found". Not exactly a cigarette, will that count?
Or how about "Chew Tabacco Rag" by Spade Cooley. Again, not about cigarettes but a song about tobacco nonetheless. It's a hilarious song.
How about "Family Tradition" by Hank Williams Jr:
Don't ask me Hank
why do you drink?
(Hank) why do you roll smoke?
Why must you live out the songs that you wrote?
Or, "The Cigar Song" by Brad Paisley? (not a cigarette, but cigars are better anyways)
Good suggestions, all. I had forgotten about the Smithereens. Good song.
Chew Tobacco Rag is a great song! I had never heard it before. We may need a separate post just for chew!
I love the spit sounds.

Which reminds me ... when I got down here to NC about 14 years ago, we had several ladies in the congregation in their nineties who liked to talk about their own chew habits which they only stopped a few years before I got here.
Bryce, that song is about the only tune by Hank Jr. I can stand.
Now Hank Sr ... that is another thing.
I dont imagine they play alot of Hank Jr in England. Or maybe they do what do I know?
