Google Reader and the Nuclear Option

I love reading. I love reading stuff online. I love blogs, and news papers and music sites. I love Google reader which organizes it all for me.

But, as when I go to the library (books, books on tape, CD's DVD's....), my eyes are bigger than my free time.

Google Reader says I now have over 4000 unread items. I know I will never read even a fraction of them. So I am going with the nuclear option. Deleting them all.

I've done this several times already but it always pains me. I am so uncertain. Perhaps there is a great story I will miss.

Yet I know it is almost certainly not true. I will be just fine (better!) without whatever information is lurking there.

So here goes ... there ... they are all gone.

But in a few days it will already be back over a 1,000. and surely within three weeks or so back to 4,000.

Sigh.

What in the world is "Google Reader?"

It sounds like something from which I should stay away.
