My brother in law is a total OSU freak. He got me a VHS tape for Christmas: a BBC documentary on Woody Hayes from 1976. Incredible. Woody was a very interesting person. Very focused on helping kids succeed academically and athletically and off the field, he was very humble. But during practice? He used more cuss words than you can imagine.
Anyway, I ran across this quote from Woody which made me laugh:
“There's nothing that cleanses your soul like getting the hell kicked out of you.”

Then let's hope that the entire OSU team gets a good soul-washing on January 8th. :)
BTW, my father was an OSU alum. I attended the last game Woody coached. Everyone in the stadium knew it was his last game as we all watched him grab an opposing player by the facemask and punch him as he ran out of bounds after an interception (or so my memory recalls). Woody was a great coach. He had some real personality flaws, but he was a great football coach.
Nevertheless....
Go Gators!

Well, I have no dog in that Buckeye/Gator fight. But watching that video of Hays punching a Clemson player is still startling. Its on you tube somewhere.
Hayes is spelled with an 'e'.

"Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach."
Go Bucks!
I understand the entire OSU football team is presently being considered by the Roman Church for sainthood. :-)
It's great to be a Florida Gator.
If you're not a Gator, you're Gator-bait.

Hard to argue. That was a good old fashioned butt whippin.
I am nothing, if not humble in victory. Just wait until you see how gracious I am in defeat.
BTW, I thank you for referring me to the Woody Hayes video at Youtube. I watched the infamous event and it was just like I remembered. I really liked Woody Hayes. My dad virtually idolized him. It's too bad his stellar career ended in such a way. And for those who compare Woody Hayes to Bobby Knight? There's really no comparison. COntrast would be more like it. Woody Hayes always was quick to acknowledge his faults. Bobby Knight doesn't seem to think he has any to acknowledge.
